The Deen Show: A Christian Minister’s Conversion to Islam ( 1 of 2 )
Why did I choose Islam? Why I’m no longer a Christian? Dr Jerald Dirks is our guest on today’s show, Dr. Dirks is a former minister (deacon) of the United Methodist Church and revert to Islam. He holds a Master’s degree in Divinity from Harvard University and a Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Denver. Author of “The Cross and the Crescent: An Interfaith Dialogue between Christianity and Islam” (2001), and “Abraham: The Friend of God” (2002). He has published over 60 articles in the field of clinical psychology, and over 150 articles on Arabian horses. Jesus is God, not His messanger. just one of numerous falsehoods.
Jesus is prophet of god.
Dude lol, what is your religion? Christian says Jesus is son of god, and you say he is actually god. LOL MAN! you people are so misguided.

And yet this guy from Harvard is converted. A Harvard graduate is full of crap?
@13inverse89 jesus is not god the bible clearly says he was his son
@pisaukaratan just becuz he he graduated from harvard does not mean he cant make mistakes.
@ Unitedastwo
that’s right. but there is a different between simply making a mistake and making a mistake based on crap. Now tell me again, are you saying that a graduate of Harvard Seminary would make a mistake of believing in a text full of crap? Which may imply that YOU have better knowledge in Christianity AND Islam compare to this gentleman, a former Deacon who has written at least five books on Abrahamic faiths?
Dirks claimed to be an a typical Christian, yet he denied the crucifixion, resurrection and that Jesus is God’s eternal Son. this is not an a typical Christian, this a NON CHRISTIAN ! Jesus said to his diciples to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. implying the supreme importance of the unity of 3 distinct natures in 1 God.
@11101ahmed So true
@ors712
That’s right – good post. This is what I have been arguing here. Muslims see him as some kind of exceptional scholar, whereas Christians can see that he was never a Christian to begin with. Having a Master’s degree in Divinity means nothing without the Holy Spirit. As William Lane Craig said, there is a big difference between knowing God and knowing about God.
If jesus was god why did he pray
The Holy Bible teaches that there are three distinct, yet inseparable Persons who exist as the one true God: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The three Persons of God, because they are personally distinct, have loving communion and dialog amongst themselves. Therefore, the Lord Jesus wasn’t praying to himself , but was actually praying to the Person of the Father.
You need to listen. He said he was an “atypical Christian.” Atypical is a word that means, “not typical”.
ok so what if a muslim said to you “hey guys im an atypical muslim, I dont believe Muhammad was a prophet from Allah, I dont believe the Hadith, i do not believe the revelations Muhammad recieved were genuine , and i believe that Jesus was the Son of God who died for our sins, however i do like wearing the long beard.” would you call this an atypical muslim? no, you would call him a NON MUSLIM because he rejects the very essence of what Islam is, just as Dirks rejects what Christianity is.
And to who Jesus was praying. Why we did not follow Jesus and pray to his God (Allah)?
i didnt find anything about trinity in the bible. would u tel me in which bible contains that? if there is a trinity son, father and ghost, what about mary the mother of son? should father and son through out mary from the gods family? what wrong with mother? i cant understand that? explain to me plz.
tel me that did noah, adam, abraham, mojes, jakob, and so on say about trinity. did they said to their ppl that god is one or god is in three personalities or god has a begotten son? plz quote me from bible. i really need to know.
the word trinity is not specifically used in the old or new testament. but, from various texts we can establish that God has 3 distinct natures. God is not 3 different gods in one God but has 3 distinct natures in 1 God. Matthew 28:19 Jesus says ” go and make diciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit” Mark 1:11 “a voice came from heaven: ” You are my Son , whom I love, with you I am well pleased” This was the voice of God speaking to Jesus
As for the old testament in Genesis 1:26 God said “let US make man in OUR image, in OUR likeness” this is implying a sort of plurality from the start with God . not to say that there are multiple gods but rather to say that the Son was with the Father from the beginning. It is important to note that in no ancient semitic document is the term us or we ever used in the royal sense , so the word “we” and “our” literally means plural, not the royal “we” we encounter today.
further documentation for Jesus claiming to be present with the Father before the world began is found in John 10:36 Also in John 17:1-5 Jesus says how he has been given authority over all people and that the Father will glorify Jesus with the same glory Jesus had with him before the world began. when Jesus says before the world began he is implying that he was present with the Father before creation and now he has been sent into creation to save us of sin. whoever believes in him will not die
I pray to allah and i try to pray 5 times a day
thats the same bible that was edited by the catholic church and goverments of rome, you seem like a good person please read some history
spiz3y. every Bible we encounter today whether its the New International Version, the English Standard Version, The King James version or the Catholic Bible will say the same things in the verses that i quoted in my 3 comments below. If however you claim that at one point in time there was “some other Bible” in existance before it was changed and distorted into the text today, then where might i find it? where are the manuscripts confirming your claim?
