That was the longest footage of a bait car that I ever seen. I thought those cars are suppose to have an engine shut off switch. God damn canadians can’t do a damn thing right. but it sure was entertaining while it lasted.
It was against the law to use the kill switch after certain speeds when this happened in 2001 I think it was, it was the beginning of the program so they had a law in place based upon the danger of shutting down the engine at high speeds because the driver may lose control and cause more harm. This very incident changed that law.

What are you 5? The point is that a well-to-do neighbourhood won’t have as many car thefts as a poor one. More thefts = more arrests = less carjackers on the street stealing people’s property. This has nothing to do with race. And learn to spell

I agree. If it is a “bait car” there should be someone with in a close proximity to stop it before it gets out of hand. If they had an ignition controll set up to turn the car off completely within 10 seconds of the car starting and an officer close to the car they would run less of a chance to cause damage to other people and property.

In the original report, they point out that the system used in the bait car was on loan from the New York Police. The thief was from Florida.
