lifestyle. Hyperthyroidism, generally more difficult to treat, requires the normalization of thyroid hormone production. Treatment could involve drug therapy to block hormone production, radioactive iodine treatment that disables the thyroid, or even thyroid surgery to remove part or the entire gland. The most popular treatment is radioactive iodine. This therapy often results in hypothyroidism, requiring the use of levothyroxine (synthetic replacement hormone) in order to restore …
So sorry to hear about your health sweetie. I hope soon you will start to feel better. Don’t let the stress of it take you any lower. I have diabetes and it’s hard at first. Be strong and the road will get easier. (((Hugs) Take care of yourself! My heart hums a happy song for you. Don’t be so sad you can get through it. Peace & Love 2ya!
Worst thing you can do when finding out you have a medical issue is check out the forums & internet sites due tothe fact that you generally get the worst scenarios. I am a nursing student and it’s the worst ever when people do that because it gets people paranoid and makes them nervous. Health issues are subjective, it depends on you and your body. You might barely be affected after taking your meds and maybe not. Just a POV of someone who works in a hospital on a regular basis.
My grandmother, mother and me all have hypothyroidism. My grandmother turned 100 this year! We’ve all treated it with synthroid. I’ve been on synthyroid since for 15 years. Make sure you NEVER take the generic version of your thyroid med. Once you get your thyroid level under control you can get blood tested once a year or more often if you’re not feeling well. You can ask me any question if you want
Give yourself six weeks on the thyroid meds till u start to feel better. I have been with a endocrinologist which is a thyroid specialist. That helps a lot I think. I suffer with migraines and that is very common with thyroid disease. You’ll be fine!! Just make sure you get your levels checked and under control and you will be fine! Promise you!
I’m sorry about that. I hope things get better for you soon. One question: How long before you saw a doctor did you start feeling these symptoms?
You are a strong person and I believe you’ll get through this just fine. Take care of yourself stay healthy and Don’t Give Up! (((hugs)))
Colleen dear, I’m sorry to hear the news. But don’t stress over with what you don’t know yet. Everybody’s body is different and it might be hard to follow some steps but you can do it.
You are such inspiration.
Life gave you lemons but I know you are strong and smart and you will make more then lemonade.
I wish you the best and stay calm and focused on what you know and who you are. We are here if u need a cheer or just an ear.
*hugs* Mari
I know what you are going through all too well, being hit with a pretty serious sickness that changed my life after working SO HARD to be as healthy as possible. My doctor found a tumor on my thyroid after I got very, very sick and my life has been turned upside down ever since.
Please don’t give up on your health, I did for a couple months, gained 15 lbs and it made me EVEN more miserable. Nothing feels better than taking care of yourself, especially since you need it the most right now.
Is your thyroid swollen as well??
only since being on sythroid it seems to be itchy and swollen
miserable is right, mainly because every KEEPS telling me how much weight I put on… yup to my face
just going to start making my videos, trying to start this healthy eating thing all over again…
thanks!
well over the summer I felt fuzzy headed, sometimes lightheaded and numbless in my limbs. Lack of energy but nothing I really did anything about but then 2 weeks ago it felt like I threw my back out.. but the I was losing feeling in my arms and legs for longer periods of time
thanks dear, going to look into a endocrinologist when I move in a month or so.
You are probably right, that was totally what my husband said about the forums. I have been in a funk I need to pull out of it
hang in there girlie, you’ll figure it out and adapt to this change and you’ll get back on track.
keep up the good spirit, continue to go on your weight loss journey. In the end you’re going to figure out how to handle the medication and you’re going to have a good and healthy life again. A friend of mine did so, after a long period of health difficulties, bad depression a.s.o. the doctors found out that he suffers from Hashimoto-Thyreoiditis. Now with the medication he’s doing well.
Can itching be some form of allergic reaction?
Nice to see you again, Colleen. I’m not personally familiar with this condition, but I’d suggest that staying healthy and fit will always lessen the effect of any health problem. I think you’re on the right track.
I think this is my problem, too. Also, Cortisol from a stressful life.
Good luck to you. You have beautiful face. Don’t sweat a little weight, too much. Eat right, sleep right, get exercise you will be fine.
But, stay away from pain killers. My best friend lost her personality to pain killers, one of my acquaintances died in his sleep at 38 years of age. Pain killer overdose.
well atleast you are taking care of your health, my neice has thyroid hypo as like you i’m here for you
I am getting my thyroid tested also. I have been having similar symptoms as you.
